I realize that I can't acurately write Angel's POV, because she is very aware of how cheesy she gets. In other news, the last of this section...enjoy!

The Amaranth woman, Angel, led them through the vents to a small room on the other side of the ship. Jordan wondered what hold she had over Alex, who jumped every time she snapped an order. Jared stuck close to the Earthian, Jessie, making sure that the girl wasn’t the liability they all knew she could have been. In the room, Angel and Alex had a quick conversation in Amaranthan before Alex gave him a shy smile and left. “What’s going on?” Jordan said, moving to stand across the door from Angel.

Angel gave him a dirty look, “Alex is checking the next stop,” she said. “He’s fine.” She turned, “We have to run down this hallway to the next stop. You two need to decide how you’re going to move. You have a few minutes so talk fast.”

“Can you walk?” Jared asked Jessie.

Jessie, sitting on the counter that ran the length of the back wall shook her head, “I’m not going to be fast enough. You’re going to have to carry me, I’m sorry.”

“Hurry,” Angel said.

“All right,” Jared said and picked her up carefully.

“If you two are ready,” Angel said, “you need to go now. It’s to the left, four doors down on the right.” She opened the door and Jared half ran out the door, Jessie clinging to him.

The door shut and Angel sighed, bowing her head a little. “They’re safe,” she said.

“How do you know?” Jordan asked.

“Alex and I have an empathic bond,” Angel replied, “sometimes we can communicate that way, but mostly it’s for us to know if the other’s in trouble.” She leaned against the wall, “We have to wait a few minutes for a patrol, then we can go.”

“Whatever,” Jordan replied.

“Look, you don’t like me, I get that,” Angel said, “I also get that you and Alex are bonded, good for you. I’m happy he has someone.”

“Could have fooled me,” Jordan muttered.

“Look,” Angel said, “Alex and I were best friends for years before we left Amarantha, and we’ve gotten closer since then, but as brother and sister, not as lovers. I’ve done my best to be what Alex needed after Amarantha; it hasn’t been easy all right.”

“You order him like he’s your slave,” Jordan said.

“Don’t,” Angel replied, “don’t act like you know what’s going on, because you don’t.” She sighed, “That’s why I kept you back, Jordan. Because I need you to keep your mouth shut until we’re safe. You’re getting pissed at me, and Alex can tell. He thinks you’re getting mad with him for letting me talk to him that way and Alex doesn’t deserve that. Alex is a submissive, Jordan, and while I’m good at giving orders, I can, and sometimes do, run right over him. In the middle of a life or death situation, that’s ok.”

Jordan stared at her for a long moment, “Now,” Angel said, “it’s time to go. Stay right behind me Jordan.”
